Title:
Judge Herkinbald (Archambauld) stabbing his nephew exhibition label Narrative 1
Narrative: Judge Herkinbald had ordered the execution of his nephew as punishment for adultery, yet this was not enacted. When the young man later visited the dying judge, Herkinbald rose from his deathbed, and stabbed the offender to death. A bishop refused to administer the holy sacrament to ‘murderous’ Herkinbald, yet the sacramental bread miraculously appeared in Herkinbald’s mouth.
