Edition Notes: the print displays a number of scratches in the lower margin with could show that the inscriptions have been erased, the amount of scratches is not enough to sustain this, therefore the print is a proof (and the lower margin could have been cleaned prior to the inscriptions. Confirmed by Alsia Bunbury, Curator Prints and Drawings at the National Galley of Victoria.
